A prominent area of woodland on a hill overlooking Glasgow Airport, Teucheen Wood was taken into community ownership by the newly formed Inchinnan Development Trust in December 2021.
In May 2019 the woodland was put up for sale – with the risk of it being purchased by a housing developer that already had a major development nearby. The local Community Council intervened to have the woodland removed from sale before the creation, less than a year later, of the Inchinnan Development Trust (IDT) with the aim of taking it into community-led ownership. That goal was achieved in December 2021.
It’s a move that has already brought transformative change for individuals, energised the wider community and championed biodiversity.
