Scotland’s Landscape Charter

Action Plan

Delivering The Charter

Valuing and taking responsibility for Scotland’s landscapes requires a collaborative approach amongst all organisations and people involved in matters that affect our landscapes. We recognise that good policy and tools exist around land and landscape and aim to reinforce this in a short-term action plan to support implementation of the charter which will be undertaken in collaboration with the landscape community in Scotland.

Following on from the successful collaborative stakeholder event – Delivering for Scotland’s Landscapes through the Charter and the development of an Action Plan held on 30 October 2025  the SLA formed a short term working group and in March 2026 held a workshop to take forward the emerging themes, consider actions and priorities. We aim to finalise an initial draft action plan by May 2026.

Greater numbers of people are actively participating in landscape at all levels and are positively engaged in landscape decision-making

This charter is about promoting awareness of the critical contribution of the landscape to all our lives and to promote the action required to maximise the many benefits they bring now and for the future.
